Default 284A

If 284 was in fact 2844 then the manufacturer was Ford and not Metgas. My records show #161-#284 as LP2s but no manufacturer but then #285-#467 were also LP2s but manufactured by South Australian Railways.

Greame's Carrier #2054 looking at the stamping definitely started as #2053, but was that an error and it should have been #2054 or was it converted to a LP2A and the A stamping was put in the wrong place. However in saying that the A stamping on the Carriers I have seen is after the model stamping, i.e. LP2 to LP2A. It makes you wonder whether #2055 onwards were also re-stamped due to a numbering error.
