I've understood very little of your musical discourse, although once-upon-a-time I had a 12-string guitar (an old girlfriend broke it, another story - I played by ear, couldn't read a note of music). But I CAN suggest that "manual dexterity, lack thereof, troops for the disuse of" is a function of creeping old age. I hate it too.
