Here's a D15 Tanker of the 8th Indian Div "somewhere in Italy", note the use of tire chains on the tanker.
Notice the camouflage pattern Erwin, not sure what the base color is on the truck I would hazard a guess at G3 ?? it seem a bit too dense in the photo for Light Stone Pete Photo credit IWM |

Possibly Erwin it's hard to tell, what do you think the base color is there? is that what I've seen described as light mud ?

The model picture I posted I think could rather be S.C.C.2 brown. But as usual with colours on b/w pictures or drawings: guesses only;-))) |

Look what Iīve found on Pinterest (Source: https://pin.it/huobaqqbo7gxxu) :
an ***original picture of a "Desert D-15"***!! So itīs no more speculation...the "black swan" truly existed;-) Very interesting on a side note: the cargo body appears to be a field modification to allow for more space. Someone realised that the rather generous waste of space for a tire holder and spares box could be better used for the cargo body directly neighbouring to the drivers cab;-)) And I do admire the drivers: I took my D-15 2 times to a historic driversī venue at Senica/Slovak Republic ("SLOVENSKY PIESKY/SLOVAK SAND"). There is a huge military area which was used during the war by the Deutsche Afrikakorps for training as to their unique natural deep sand deposit. I found it almost impossible to drive there further into the compound without 4WD. ******* Thank you all for contributing here and PLEASE keep on posting PICTURES of this beautiful little lorry/truck!!!! Arenīt there any from recent British shows like War and Peace? PLEASE continue:-) and nice Sunday Cheers Erwin |

No, that's one of the movie prop vehicles from Sea of Sand, the same vehicle pictured in Simon's second pic. I thought there was a thread on MLU many years ago about this film.

The drawing above from Erwin in Post #30 comes from a catalogue of 1/35 kits I think from ESCI that was planning to produce such a kit, but did not, much to my disappointment - I guess this would have been late 1990s.

Hi Larry,
Esci's Dodges were announced in their 1977 catalogue. Here is another hope from the same catalogue. [IMG] [/IMG]Cheers, Patrice. |

The pic of the original that Hanno put into this thread is from the former Army Museum. The latter closed years ago I believe and I think parts of it ended up in the Wheatcroft collection in Donington, Derby. Can anybody confirm this? If so, the LRDG D-15 could be there as well... |
