Yes it is,so that doesn't explain why your vehicle keeps running after the switch is off, but does explain why the alternator won't charge. It looks like you may have had a small fire under that cover. The two small leads over to the inernal regulator are also burned up, and your field wire is missing altogether. It is possible that it was a short at that location, but it's also possible the alternator went to an overcharging condition and burned itself up. I would suggest someo disassembly is required.



There is no cheap source for thsoe alternators that I know of. Expect to pay between $300-600 for anything on line. I used to sell them for $125 back in the day when I bought 30 M151A2s, bot those are long gone.
