And lastly, a conundrum. This jack is smaller that the others, but is also rated at 4 tons. It is dated 1941, but has no country of origin. The maker's name is Shelley. It has a small "footprint" and has a plate measuring 7" x 8" bolted to the bottom, although I guess this is more for stowage and securing the jack than to provide stability when jacking. The plate has a chequered hatch pattern on it which looks like CMP cab flooring, but is neatly finished like a factory job with smooth edges and countersunk holes.

What country are "Shelley" from, and might this be an interim/ersatz Universal Carrier jack, as the base would fit neatly into a mounting bracket?

Hi Tony,
The Shelley jack is one supplied to British WD in WW2. Base plate is correct.
