That photo of it sitting on the beach has always intrigued me. I had it as my screen saver for awhile! Must be hard to recover if it's still there!

My guess is that the track has broken under the tension of rust. It is probably in a worse state than it looks.

Derk, it's not sitting on the beach, it's next to an inland fresh water lagoon.

Hi Kevin

Fair one but two totally different things. Seaside air to the max yet the Cornish survive!! Their automobiles suffer a bit more though.

Is this carrier restore-able? Depends on your commitment, I suppose.

If you save and blow up the photos, you will see that pretty much all of the inner metal over the tracks has either disintegrated or is laying on the track. You can also see where the armour has blistered in the corners, indicating that it is likely very thin.

On the plus side, two of the bren stem mounts are there, and they are primarily brass. I think I see a third one sitting inside the hull.

This old soldier will fade away and dissolve from sight. eventually . But knowing how difficult it is to access the island ] ( no wharf ) how the hell did it get there ?
