Aeroplane
The aeroplane appears to be a U.S. Stearman/Boeing trainer , the scene may have been edited into the movie for a dramatic effect, this sort of thing was commonly done, a cheap trick by the movie makers.
Seen near the end, Carrier 3323 ( LP 1 ? ) has a wireless antenna mast fitted, probably a No. 11 set
