Default Footage Holland

Terry,
This old woman lived in Hierden.
This is a farming village near Harderwijk.
She is wearing original costumes from this region.
This also includes the "kapspeld" with glasses on.

You have increased my cultural awareness of the coastal regions of the Netherlands. Thank you.

Harderwijk is a small town in central Holland. About 80 km east of Amsterdam. South of it is the Veluwe, this is a wooded area.
It is located on the former Zuiderzee and April 18, 1945 liberated by the Canadians.
Here, the liberators were helped by "Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten" (Interior Forces).
It was a big party.

Amazing video Wout , amazing . thanks for posting.

Just finished a book about Léo Major from le Régiment de la Chaudière fame in Holland. The one eyed phantom.

A hero in Holland , a totally unknown in his home country.

Le Chaudière is one of the regiments I served with so I knew him already.

One of your Liberators with a name.

You'll have to be more specific. That link is the landing page for the website. There are death notices and a sidebar stories, but nothing pointing towards a particular clip.

You might have some luck contacting the website's operator too. There may be 'metadata' which is not seen on the visuals. For example, information on cards or on the physical film reels.
