			Hi

I found this flat tip years ago in Calgary but never thought it was MV/AFV connected. Looked good in my VW toolbox. I see now that it has the mark IRWIN-US of A GOV.STOCK#41-S-1076 Is this a US Army issue tool for an MV? ![]() Any comment appreciated. Thx. regards Darrell |

Darrell, that is the screwdriver that was common in M38 and M38A1 vehicles (both US and Canada). Im sure there were other vehicles that used the same. There were a few different lengths available (depending on the vehicle). If you wish to sell it, please PM me. I have been looking for one for a while.

Here is a photo of one with the same stock number, that I can confirm came from a 1953 M38A1Cdn (Gagetown Jeep). It has been modified to get better leverage on the screws that hold the brake drums to the hub. That's why I have been looking for an unmolested tool.

			Hi Wayne

Thanks for that. I've had it a while and for some reason thought it was older. Oh well, thank you all the same. ![]() PM me your address and it's yours for the postage costs if you want it. I don't have my 72 Ghia or 71 Baja any more. regards Darrell |

There is debate on the G503 if the Irwin as shown was wartime or post war. Doesn't seem like the experts could decide. I remember seeing them in the vehicle tool kits of the vehicles back in the 70s, although they were obviously legacy tools at that time.
