.... the battery boxes we reprod to fit our batteries sideways at the back of the running board.
I beleive that certain CMP had batteries mounted sideways.....(Seems I have seen some on factory photos) not sure why..... we did ours to accommodate modern size 12 volts batt. Cheers

Could possibly be for the Chev wireless truck like the one in the picture ??

Attached are pics of a repro Chevrolet battery box, as in Dave's picture this is mounted perpendicular to the vehicle axis, as in 90 degrees rotated from it's normal way of mounting (parallel to the vehicle axis).
