Easier said than done Micheal. The mk1 starter is a standard Ford commercial starter....millions of them out there. The mk2 starter is carrier specific. Is there a commercial equivelant?
On my mk1, I went to a 6V solenoid with 12 volts running from the rear battery box through the solenoid and to the starter. No starter issues and it starts first time, every time. But a field expedient? No. I think they were more used to exchanging lots of batteries and using the evil handcranks in those days. |
