I agree with Jon. "H" section was 2nd company, 1st Div sigs. Their first role after arriving in England was HQ support for Div. anti-tank regiment. They moved around a bit and ended up with providing sigs for the Divisional arty commander. He had his own communications network separate from other div signals.
By end of 1941 arty div. was pulling in sig units from other areas and growing. In this photo it looks like he's just put on a new decal. Stationed mostly in Surrey/Sussex. |
