My first thoughts were "Yikes" until I realized you had an Ontario Jeep.
No tac signs that I can see to help you on your quest for it's history. Perhaps underneath the layers. Look particularly on the front fenders, and rear corners. Occasionally they could also be on the front bumper, or the bumperettes, but their longevity was very limited in those locations there since push starting with another Jeep was the norm back then. Hi Frank,
My M38A1CDN2 was purchased by Sarafan Auto Supply, Spring Valley, NY at Petawawa Canadian Forces Base, 17 November 1986. It was at Gilbert, PA last year. I purchased it from Mr. Pat Tipton of Branchville, NJ.

Rob Love thinks that my M38A1CDN2 may have spent its entire career at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa. I have been trying to research any photos of it during its Canadian Forces service, but no joy.
