Keeping off topic but about US battleships the only surving dreadnought battleship is the USS Texas. Built in 1912 it remains a museum ship.

Back on topic: Pre war movies often had the support of the military including locations. It's interesting to see how things looked back then on ships and bases that no longer exist.

Default USS Alabama

The 96F with 100% humidity in Mobile Bay didn't detract (too much) from the magnificence of USS Alabama. Here's some pics and video from my visit last week. She's one BIG piece of kit.
