I think the type that holds the 22c scope is designed to fit in the holder on the shield as it is a container for the smaller container that the 22c fits inside. That's an overkill even for the British Army unless it was to adapt the smaller case to the bigger holder.

That's right Adrian both cases are designed to fit in the shield brackets, but at different periods of the war.
The British and Canadian cases for the no22c are completely different in design and I much prefer the Canadian type. Rob......................rnixartillery.
