Gilles,
Your M38 sounds like a typical Canadian Willys M38 purchased in the fall of 1951. Do you have the dashboard serial plates? If so then the Willys serial number should be 38442 with a date of delivery 10-51. Can you confirm this?
Is the CFR 51-33264 stamped on the top of the left front frame between the bumper and the grill or did you just find it on the rebuild plate?
If you have the dashboard plates can you check to see if the M38 model number is suffixed with "CDN" or just plain M38.
The 1959 rebuilt date is typical of a vehicle rebuilt in Germany at 23 BW: a previous post on MLU discussed this rebuild facility. It is best to cross-check the rebuild plate info with the dashboard plates and frame CFR because they were often sloppy in stamping the correct numbers at the time of the 1959 rebuilt.
Definitely a Canadian M38 and worth preserving. .... Brian
