Default Got some info....

The C8 from Gord measures at 7 3/4 in on one side and 8 inches on the driver's side.

Will get measurements and photos of mine this weekend.

Cheers

Default bits

When I was assembling the cab 11 C8 cab, I found a few rough and ready discrepancies . The drivers side arch bar was twisted , this caused the wing to sit up a a strange angle .

The other thing was, the panel under the same arch bar had been banged with a mallet a few times to make it fit in place. There was no evidence of any accident damage to any other parts eg chassis . I reckon this ad hoc fitting was done at the factory - it took them a while to work things out .

I believe I have a May 1940 made C8 , going by the research I did .

Default Floor stats from 8 trucks

I have access to 7 cab 12 circa 41 and 42 and one cab 11 circa 1940

6 of them have the shallow inner fender with the floor plate measuring 9 in. and that includes my cab 11. All are Chevys and all C15a.

That leaves me with two odd balls with the deep recess inner fenders at 7 3/4 in. floor plates. One is a cab 12 from a Marina in Gananoque the other the remains of a cab 12 that was dismantled at CC2 the second gathering of the Caldswell. I eventually salvaged the rolling chassis and some sheet metal from Don ( last name???) who lived at the time in Hamilton. Both these vehicles had the strange looking inner fenders with even less toe room.

Here are some photos of the inner fender seen from underneath the fender.

...and one that shows where the elusive little spring fits to support the flex brake line.

I'm sorry I didn't have time to go to the workshop to measure floor plate yet.
In mean time I've got new loop points made by my friend.
