A current-day OH&S officer would be throwing a fit! These days, I think they (Aust soldiers) are not even allowed to travel in open-backed trucks.

Plenty of other accident photos if you search under accident in the "photograph section".

Default Blitz

That's a fire tender, and from memory the Mustang piloted by Dick Cresswell had run into the back of the truck killing the poor fellow who was on the back.
To be fair to the pilot I think the truck was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was out of sight to the pilot.

Default 15cwt

I'd say they're 15CWTs, but it's too blurry to discern anything else about them!

The Dutch troop carriers in AFG had roll cages around the bed, and the troops sat in 5-point harnesses and sort-of person shaped conformal seats. Not the bouncy oak benches I've enjoyed.

Smile Interesting

Here is an interesting "In the background", this was taken at Cold Lake AB. They are selling of an old truck and this was one of the photos showing the interior.

This was a modification put in place after a truck with the standard bouncy wooden benches rolled over during exercise in Norway, killing and injuring the soldiers traveling in the back.
