Seems to me there was something like that in the same pile of stuff where you got that gun. In fact I sandblasted it and was puzzled why there was no rifling in what I thought was the barrel Years later I realise it was the sleeve.
Anyway, it is sitting in Westbourne in front of the old store/pool hall. I may be through there tomorrow, so I'll check it out then and compare what's there with the 17 pdr on the base here.

I still think that there might be a small piece of the big 17 sitting in some obscure pile of salvage. But you know the yard better than anyone, and this was close but no cigar. Cheers Rob

Yes... a APCBC projectile...
has finally showed up, minus the ballistic cap. Thank you Rob Love for this lead. Looking forward to the repaint and script restoration on this little gem. Notice double band. Cheers Rob
