Many years ago one of our club members had the clevis pull off the end of one of his newly manufactured brake rods. When this happens, your brake pedal goes to the floor and is useless. The only braking you have left is to pull on the other rod with the steering wheel but you need to know which side failed.
I believe the reason for the failure was that metric rod was used which was smaller in diameter than the original and there was insufficient thread depth. David
