The "Zulu Dawn" film was a critical and commercial flop. "Zulu" took considerable liberties with historical fact (including Henry Hook's incorrect image)...i.e. both Baker and Caine wear uniforms from the turn of the century and the troops wear Slade-Wallace pouches rather than the authentic 1871 Valise Pattern. Also, incorrectly, the 24th of Foot was called "The South Wales Borderers"...this re-naming didn't occur until 1881, two years after the Zulu War, when the regiment was properly known as the "The Warwickshires". Wow!...Sorry about that...I've really digressed...but this era is one of my study periods...18 books in my library about these events in 1879.
