Around 1984 there was a re-distribution of land force equipment, and the Lynx that were in 2PPCLI were being VMO'd out to other units. I was a young craftsmen at Base Maint, and got to do the short road test out back of the shop with one of the Lynx. As we were puttering across the field, a jack rabbit jumped out of nowhere and ran. The lynx quickly gave pursuit....only the chain link fence saved the rabbit. The lynx was light, and fast. I can only imagine what would be possible if they had been re-powered to some of the new M113 power-plant configurations that are available today.
