1944 A27M Cromwell MK IV Restoration
After following Ricks restoration (HMVF) and looking at his beauty (well I mean drooling and buying all of the lottery tickets I could), I had been trying to track down a project for a few years, when none were to be had, all of a sudden viola, multiple opportunities, Comets, Centaur, Charioteer, etc. so I put an offer in for a Charioteer, (Isle of Wight) so fingers crossed. So I have talked (bribed) Rick and Adrian from the UK into doing some of the restoration work on the new toy if it pans out. You can see Ricks beautiful restoration on HMVF. I don't have much history on it yet, except it was built in 1944, is a F hull and was converted and sold to the Jordanians and captured by the Israelis during the 6 day war. When we get into the blasting and cleaning hopefully we will find markings and census numbers and hopefully get some details and history. Yes it will be converted back into a Cromwell, so those that want it to stay a Charioteer will be upset, but I want it to go as an accessory to my 44 Humber Scout Car.

Andy that is great, what group are you with, will they both have turrets? I will remember that, but I don't think he will take that in payment
 Charlie, maybe sometime next year after W&P and maybe a few other shows where we can get 2-3 Cromwells together, it really depends on how hard I push Rick and how hard my wallet fights back, will try and source a jenny to send over with it, since the other one was absconded by said individual along with my jacks and spare parts!!

Well as you know it was going to be a carrier but then the Daimlers turned up! Even better I dont need to have something else to move them on !!
Also they have guns 2 so I am looking forward to traffic jams in the future !

There is a good possibility of maybe having 3 Cromwells at W&P 2015, won't happen this year, but fingers crossed for then, throw a Firefly in and it will be a complete platoon, now that would be a helluva sight
 Also I can't wait to do a couple of photo shoots like this: I know the first isn't a Cromwell, but we can imagine.

looking forward to starting the resto for lance and although it might look complicated it's actually fairly simple as most of the head scratching was done when we restored mine, so second time round should be a breeze

Cromwell should be arriving at Ricks place in Manchester on 27 March, then we should get to go through the bins and boxes on the 28th, and then I will get to visit Ricks lovely Cromwell for a spin around the airfield in Norfolk...
 plus a few pints while I am there..

lance the transport is booked and will arrive sometime tomorrow.
Adrian you can take the old girl for a spin around the airfield, the new mag is now fitted and timed correctly and shaun says it will now power slide in 4th  or we can come to you. I can bring the bofors reflex sight with me but you might have to wait a little longer for the monkey, at least until lance starts throwing money at me. rick

tank arrived a little late at 15.30 due to an overturned milk tanker on the m6 (that's going to smell bad when the weather gets hot) unfortunately the fella's in the yard next to mine had knocked off for the day so I couldn't use their wagon and the bloody tractor I was going to use got a puncture. we had to twist the drivers arm to uncouple his tractor unit and use that to pull it off with a little help from the forklift under the rear track links but all's well that ends well and it is now sitting outside my yard ready for shunting inside later on today.

kev we will get rid of the turret and gun as it's no use to us and yes the Cromwell will be at war and peace, infact i'm going to see shaun tonight to take lance for a spin in the Cromwell tomorrow morning before he flies back on sunday.

Tank up at Rick's place, here is some info.
we've been busy this week fuel tanks steam cleaned, repaired, tested and painted ready to be fitted. oil tanks cleaned and painted ready to fit. the engine is with the builder and the tear down starts on Monday we also had a quick look at the box and managed to free off the brakes and got the box to spin quite freely, we'll have a proper look at it on Monday and although we were told the box was knackered i'm fairly confident it will be ok with a bit of work. if the resto gods are on our side by the end of the next week the engine, clutch and gearbox will be ready for fitting.
