I'm glad I was the first to notice this bunch of 19 set stuff for sale on the forum. I went out to Calgary the other day and picked it all up and with a few detours I ended up putting on almost 1000 miles before I got home.
The MkII and one of the MKIIIs look like they'll likely work and the other MkIII looks like parts. He said they all light up and make static noise. I already had a good MkII so now it looks like I'll have a spare. I want one for the C8 and one for the Carrier when I get around to it. I now have 5 of the No 1 remotes and I likely only need 2 to put in the radio truck. I doubt the Carrier would have carried them. Now as to the 19 sets, is there much difference between the MkII and the MkIII? When I've seen listings of the two models together they always want more for the MkIII. Hanno, you can delete this post on the other thread.

haul
that is a nice haul
I can see two Mk3 power supplies in there , they have the 12 pin socket . the mk2 has a 6 pin socket . The mk 3 is easier to run as it draws less current if you just want to listen . MIKE

Crystal Calibrator
I got this Crystal Calibrator off ebay for $65. They usually go for $150 or more but there was only one other person interested in this one. There sure a lot of bits to gather up to have a complete 19 set.

Abyss..................what abyss?
Tank installations Churchill, Sherman, Cromwell, Comet, and Russian. Armoured Car installations Lynx, Fox, M3 Carriers Jeep C15TA Ground Station Radio Truck ACP Etc., etc.. Every one different other than Installation Kit 1 which was common to all. And the RCU's were used with a carrier, also include a spool of cable and batteries, the remote meant you could park the carrier under cover and use the 19 Set from a distance.(1/4-1 mile??) Always a good idea when someone is shooting at you. Both had to be attended. Geoff |

The remotes say if you're more than 3 miles from the radio you have to use heavier gauge wire.

Wireless remote control unit No. 1
If you read the operating instructions for the remote control, when using the remotes with a WS-19 set, normal operating range was up to three miles.
For 3 to 4 miles add one X cell, for 4 to 5 miles add two X cells add one X cell per mile thereafter. To increase the range up to 7 1/2 miles add 5 X cells to the remote control set. This is assuming you are using Cable, electric 7/27 twisted copperweld or similar cable D8, MK III, twisted, or Cable, electric, D3, MK VI., twisted. Normal resistance was 196 ohms per mile .

There are a lot of little differences, usually things added to the later Mk.III. The biggest difference is that the Mk.II has a noisy electric motor providing the required voltages and it runs all the time. The Mk.III has the same noisy motor that kicks in when you transmit or need it but otherwise runs on a quietly humming vibrator.

I believe the British made Mk111 power supply has two small genemotors , one for receive and one for transmit , these are mounted one above the other . I did have a Canadian Mk111 power unit with the vibrator unit for receive mode , it had the 12 pin socket

I just got this mount setup off ebay for $100. It even has the canvas insulating pads. Sounded like a really good deal.

Nice find getting the carriers with the canvas hold down straps. Your challenge now will be to find the two locking clips for the ends of the straps. An item somebody definitely needs to reproduce these days. Sigh!

I have a Mk 3 and power unit for sale right now, comes with the dog bone.
It worked about 5 years ago until the older fellow sold it as he was moving into a much smaller place and had no room for it. I bought it for the wash board base. It has been sitting in my basement for about 3 years now. I also have other 19 set parts. If anyone is interested email me at northman@rogers.com Dean Ajax Ontario |

Yes that's them. Andrew made up a few , he had the dies made , they turned out Ok but not as good as the originals . He didnt have a press , he used a manual "armstrong" method .
