A Jeep drivetrain might handle a flattie but anything bigger and it will self-destruct. I've seen them with flatties and Chevys both. Even one with a V4 Wisconsin! The 327 powered one wouldn't make it through the weekend. That's why there aren't any old Jeeps left around here. He used them all up for parts. The flattie powered one ran for several years without many problems.
