Default axe bracket

My 53 jeep (M38A1CDN), which came directly from a Crown Assets Disposal Corp auction, has the bracket, while my 67 jeep (M38A1CDN2) does not.

Hi Guys, having had many cdn 38A1's I have never seen the axe bracket on a cdn 2 or 3 and I've seen 100's due to all the radio mount brackets and know from my time in that when the axes were issued they were always thrown under the rear seat, the 53's did come with them and I have both a radio and non radio vehicle here now , ALL (53, and cdn 2 & 3) bodies have the weld nuts on the wheel well for the bracket,
regards Frank

Hi Chris yes it had the mount braket and rust to show it was there from waaaay back at least at the time they Crown Assets let her go...that was 1976. So it was not removed and there were holes that were there that yes I welded up but too short to be a radio set...?
Not sure what they were for but only on one side.
I usually use a pan head bolt and nut where i want to keep but plug the holes like with the antenna holes that were on the front right fender meaning it should have had a radio set...and yes the fender is from this jeep...rust patterns match.
Unless we were there and used it or have an eye whittness account we may never know what happened to any of the equipment...all speculation. I do know that the Military particulary the Army did not believe in banging out a large dent before applying filler!
