On my carrier the threaded stud was actualy a counter sunk machin screw that passed through the metal band holding the muffler in place. I'm sure there were some production changes. The one end of the metal strip that bolts to the disk bolts onto the exhaust pipe guard. There should be 2 1/4" holes on the end of the strip. They match up to two holes or threaded studs on the exhaust pipe guard.
