Does anyone have an idea of what the current market value is for one of these?

Hi Chuck, look at www.milweb.net site, classifieds, Heavy Vehicles, scroll down to CMP collection for sale and click on webvert. There is a FAT, limber and 25pdr in need of restoration for sale. Think it will be an import for you. I'd be interested to know the asking price if you get it.. Good luck, I think you'll need deep pockets though I'd reckon!! Cheers Tim

That looks like the Alamein Collection/Milmarket one.

Chuck,

Like Tony said, it is advertised on the El Alamein / Milmarket site as well. Together with another MLU member, I recently saw these vehicles which are located in the Netherlands, close to ports so shipping will not be a problem. If you read this page, you will notice what is on offer: an unrestored but very complete 25-pdr + limber, plus two Cab 12 Ford FGT Field Artillery Tractors, one of which has a restored chassis & running gear. Not sure if you are looking for a restoration project, but if so, this is a very viable one. Most of the restoration work will be in reconstructing a FAT body - which is an angle iron an sheet metal job mostly - from the remnants of two bodies present. The (rear) body is missing on most surviving FAT's, so most if not all restoration projects entail reconstruction of that part.

HTH,
Hanno

Thanks guys,

I had been thinking that if there were one here in North America that was complete & running (and for sale), I could possibly sell my Dingo and go after it. It sounds like they're rare and I don't even know if its realistic, but it's still fun to think about.

Hi Hanno, some years ago searching on the Internet I saw a photo of what seemed like dozens of FAT back bodies I think in some kind of yard in Portugal...never did keep the pic or location, but seemed like a treasure trove. Often wonder about that mysterious place and pic. Wondered if you might have known about it. Cheers Tim
