Great truck but I noticed the rear fenders are different. Still a camera and half an hour would be invaluable.

Probably not as good as half an hour around an actual truck, but you can find a large format scan of the vehicle side view displayed in the thread and another shot of the truck with the canvas fitted by using this link:

Thanks Alex there are some great photos there.

The primer is just your standard primer. Across the parking lot from my shop is a body shop and they just give me whatever I need.

Default Great High Resolution CMP Photos

Hi Alex

Those are great photos, real high resolution for looking at details. Things like the recent question about which mirror arm was correct is clearly visible in these photos.

Now I have to figure out how to down load the entire of each photos at full resolution. I can grab them as screen shots but that looses some of the detail that is there. My problem of course is in translating the site to find out how to download the images.

Again great photos.

Default I've got one of those tanks!

I have one of those water tanks on my farm. It came with the place. My farm is only a few miles from an old airbase, I knew it was military but just looking at it I can see it is identical. Missing a bunch of things but the tank is galvanized so it is still in great shape and we use it to haul water (pick it up and load it on a trailer) when it gets really dry. No truck to go with it yet.

Funny I just thought I would mention it. Came out of CFB Mountain View in Ontario.

Default CMP Water truck

There was a full page article and pictures of a fully restored 1943 CMP water truck on page 42 of the Feb 20/13 issue of Metronews - a daily publication available for free in the metro Toronto area. The owner of the truck is Bill Hebb, who might be an invaluable source for parts and general information for you.

The paper has a website at metronews.ca

The author of the article was Jeff Melynchuk, with a website wheelbasemedia.com

Hi Svenn

Yes and no, my 1942 Pat 13 C60S all of the floor boards in the cab are removable. While my 1945 HUPs forward cab area all but two squares by each door are removable I don't know the reason for the change.

Of course the rear floors of HUPs are welded in place but that doesn't effect your project.

I can't tell what it is but there is something over the chev. symbol. I don't think it says Ford though.

Maybe it's a water truck thing like the wood strips under the cab but my rear plate is welded but the front 2 unbolt.

Hmm, that does look somewhat strange. I guess either a Ford badge, or is it the rad filler cap?

Phil, Sadly I haven't found an easy way to download the pictures yet. (allthough you can probably order prints). The best solution I found is either to use the full screen-function, downsize to screen size and than make a screen dump. For the ultimate size you have to set it too full size, make four screen dumps and knit them together in Photoshop.

A funny detail on the C15A on the dutch army archive is that something is written on the door under the numbers!

Looks like "Hold Fast" which in Norwegian means "hang on"



perhaps some Dutch members can give it another meaning?

"Hold fast" literally translated into Dutch means "vasthouden" - maybe it was an indication they should hang on to this truck as it was a good one?

has "Remmen Slecht" or "brakes bad" written in chalk.

It could well be these pictures were taken when taking stock of vehicles.

I suspect this is a pure coincidence. The term Hold Fast is a Canadian Army Engineer expression. Fresh water-making is also a Canadian Army Engineer task. A holdfast is a technical term for a foundation point, sort of an improvised anchor. It is also a loose term for an engineer gathering, sometimes just the officers although in an egalitarian sense also a professional social call that includes the senior NCOs too. Beer might be available, but the purpose would be talk or presentation on some useful topic.

Or in my case "hold fast" is on my family crest with a bull (MacLeod)
Im thinking of using it for the naming of my halftrack

Your project is looking good.
I have a friend in Northern BC who has had one for the past 30 years and has never finished the restoration. I believe he bought a significant amount of parts from Brian Asbury over the years and now has lost interest and is looking to part with it, but unfortunately is not computer literate. As well it is likely buried in snow right now.
