How do people select which threads to read

Personally, it depends upon the subject and the name of the poster. I have a very narrow subject field, but am always interested in the postings of some of our members who have shown themselves to be informative, have fun and are personable.

I do hit "New Posts" when I log in and parse from there. Thus, I missed the plea for help in HUP measurements, until a mod reposted the thread. Key words work for me. For example, if someone posted a thread with the Title of: "HUPs with Big Boobs", I would be all over that like a fat kid on a candy bar.
