|  LP2A Fuel Tap 
			
			Just a quick query, I am searching for information on the 3 way fuel cock/tap that is used in the Aust LP2A carrier. Part No. is 1009. Is this part unique to the carrier or is  there a tap out of something else that can be also used as a replacement. If someone could post some detailed pictures of an original tap for reference it would be greatly appreciated. |  There are commerical three way fuel valves 
			
			Hi  There are commercial three way fuel valves, I'll try and dig out some sources, but I have never found a modern valve which is identical to those used on Chevy CMPs. Maybe with some pictures of old and new valves you will be able to find a local source. Cheers Phil

			I bought a modern 3 way tap from 'Thread and Pipe' here in Bournemouth UK for my MK2 carrier. Then I found an original at Dirk Leegwaters site which is now nicely installed. Click on CMP, Armoured and scroll through.  Ron http://www.lwdparts.com/ |

|  Fuel Tap Part No 1009 
			
			Here's a photo of mine, sorry about the delay but it was packed away in a box. No part number on it that I could see but the makers mark is quite clear. I would appreciate if anyone could provide dimensions of the 'L' shaped lever that attaches to the valve as mine was missing this piece. Ian |

			I copied my lever from a NOS one, didnt take any measurments at the time so just had the pleasure of doing it in place (cheers to everyone who has done this for my requests), hope the photos and measurments help. I had heard that there was a second type of tap for NZ LP carriers but I have not seen one.

			I had a look at the tap lever thats still in 1824 and its not in the shape of an 'L'. Its a brass piece of flat with a round hole one end and the square hole for the tap in the other. Any way thanks for your replys, at least now i can see exactly what it looks like so i no what i have to look for. Regards Nathan |

			Hi Nathan,The fuel tap in 1824, is the correct type for our Australian carriers, it was in it when it was bought from the army disposal sales, I have owned many carriers over the past 40 od years and they are all fitted with the type that you have in 1824,as are the carriers that I still have,just take your time they will turn up,good luck with your restorations, please keep us informed on the forum on your progress,its nice to see young blood entering our hobby Regards Ron

			Hi Justin, thats OK mate. its just when I got it the remains of the disruptiv paint was still there. Guess all that means that at some time when it was in service it was repainted. good to hear from you regards Ron

			Thanks for that Euan, much appreciated. In regards to 1824, its going to be painted in just Khaki green, no disruptive patterns or 'camo'. I also found this article on the net awhile ago relating to Australian Military Vehicle colours before and during WW2.
