A review of the Chev Major Assembly books shows a similar wide variation in steering gears: often attributed to whether the truck was "arcticized" or not. Were some of these changes due to clearance problems with specialized equipment? Often the chang seemed to be as simple as a variation in the length of the pitman arm shaft.

Not directly as the type 400 has a much larger mounting bracket. I have seen some rather bodgy examples of welded brackets used, hardly safe!

Hey thats great Harry thanks ..unfortunately i work 6am to 6pm 6 days a week..so my only day is sunday..unless we get cancelled by weather..
