I'm surprised that a pyrene would have been fitted instead of an ansul. In any event, I am happy to know what fits. Does anyone have specs for the correct pyrene extinguisher and bracket style? Were these a carry over from another mv? Thanks

SMG rack is 3 1/4" bolts.
Pyrene is correct for the 1950s SMP vehicles. The red and later the blue ansuls were a product of the late 60s/early 70s. What year is your M38A1 Rick? |

The sterling smg bracket is mounted on the dashboard, to the left of the grab bar.
The hole spacing looks absolutely correct for a pyrene style mount |

SMG rack came out much later and mounted on the dash. In the 52's the fire ex was mounted on the back of the left fender. Then between the seats.
The pyrene ext. in the 42's was in the footwell! |

Hi Rob, mine is a 1967 (#12 lowest serial number of the cdn 2 series- I don't know if that makes it number 12 off the line though). It was running last in 1986 and then sat under a tarp for 25 years before I purchased it. Getting close to starting it up now.
Thanks, Rick |
