As of right now mine is doing ok, it has about 10 hours on it since being completely overhauled, has one small leak in the PS front Knuckle
but otherwise all is well and working good, it is a M274 a5 with 4 wheel Steer, and pull start, regular tires and a army paint scheme. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/DSCN0576.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/DSCN0572.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/DSCN0574.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...2/DSCN0544.jpg hope you can see those by clicking on them, should give you a Idea. Has new Jugs Pistons, all gears checked and new or good parts, New Engine Guard and gas tank, all primed and painted etc. (details can be given and show on photos if needed for those interested), lots more done but not listed. They are a great piece of kit, and when I drive it I tend to smile a lot, so does my son who has now learned to shift because of it. ![]()

Carolle and I will be bringing our Mule to Coe Hill this weekend, we will bring it up in the back of our M1009. Rides will be offered. We installed a second seat on the Mule, beside the driver to give rides and to park my butt while Carolle drives.
We took the rear seat from an Iltis welded it to a piece of flat stock and the flat stock is bolted to the side rails using existing holes. It can be removed in a minute, the side rail also doubles as a panic hold bar. Gilles

The more money you send to places like this, the more they rip people off. They downloaded the manuals for free and just put it on a CD for you to buy. So in other words making massive profit (a blank CD costs maybe $0.25 and they sell you the CD for $25-$40). I can see paying for an original copy of the manual or maybe even a printed copy, but not for a PDF of the manual. Sorry for the rant, but I really hate these types of places. Is the reason why we put together the website and post all the manuals so that others can download them for free. If anyone needs the mule manuals, we have the manuals in PDF for free (I can upload them and send a link to them). Last edited by Alain.C; 04-09-12 at 16:31. |

Don't worry about it Bryan. I am not angry. It is just one of my big pet peeves
![]() What makes places like that even worse is that they go and add a copyright notice to the documents stating that they are the property of that company and it is illegal to use unless you buy it from them. Which is naturally completely false. Anything written up by the government (Canadian or US) cannot be copywritten by law. And you are free to copy/distribute it as long as it does not contain personal information or has been labeled something like "secret". I just really don't like how they take advantage of people like this. Sorry if I came off as angry. Didn't mean to ![]() Mule looks good. Are you going to add the alternator/battery/electric start modification to it? |

I have to find out what is all involved with the starter set up,
If I find it does not fundamentally change the mule or require major surgery, I will probably eventually install the electric start (the novelty of pull starting does wear off fast) I will probably just add a battery and the starter to start (should be fine if charged before a weekend to last all weekend, or hooked up to a carefully hidden solar panel to keep it charged). Otherwise i will just probably look for some appropriate Jerry-cans and munitions boxes and thermal food boxes to place on it for show. For now maybe a seat cushion for a passenger. yes we need to share a ale some time and talk! ![]() PS Notice what is just in-front of the rear wheel on the passenger side photo? (It is MINE, I touched it first and last, no matter WHAT Charles Thinks!) Muleteers UNITE!

Having made some inquiries and found some interesting facts for the Muleteers out there.
In Canada: Shell V-Power 91 is ethanol Free across Canada. Canadian Tire 91 is also ethanol Free across Canada. Alberta, Nova Scotia: all stations dispense ethanol-free gasoline. Some also dispense E10, a ethanol Blend, so check the pump. British Columbia: all 94-octane Chevron fuel is ethanol-free. Ontario: Co-Op gas has between 5 and 15% ethanol in most blends, not friendly to rubber etc. Hope this helps all, I will be sticking with Shell V-Power 91 I think for my Mule. How fast does bad gas deteriorate the tanks/pumps diaphrams etc? Has anyone experienced it after one tank or does it take repeated exposure? Is the first sign usually a clogged fuel filter? Could we see it in the gas if we drained some from the tank?(Deteriorated rubber?)

I'll take some pics of the 2 mules we are taking to Yorke island to get around. They went up today with the landing barge, the rest of us will join them by water taxi Friday. Sure will beat carrying everything up that hill to the battery!

Harry, do tell us more of what your doing, sounds interesting!
Landing craft with Mule exit, then hill climbing with a load, well can't wait to see the pictures! What type of mule (model) are they and where did you get them from, and how much work did it need to get them to where you have them now? Are you part of the parks service in BC? and are the mules in the parks service or privately owned? so many questions.

Company claims they are selling material which is "copyrighted" by them and selling for profit ($25-$50) = wrong. If you just paid $5, that sounds like someone only charged you for the price of the CD (~$0.25-$1) and the postage (~$3-4) = fine. But you can spend your money how ever you want. Guess I should just pull all the manuals off our website and sell them instead then of paying for website hosting out of my personal pocket and giving them away for free ![]() |

We used 2 of Ian Newby's 1 ex us army the other ex US Marines. Full on loads loaded in Abbotsford, driven on to the trailer. Then On to the ferry to the island then a short 220km drive north/west to Kelsey Bay (look up story of breakwaters of WW2 ships!) drove off the trailer down the ramp onto the landing barge 35 minutes to Yorke drove off and up the embankment and all the way to the Battery. first time a powered vehicle had been on the island probably since they hauled away the camp buildings after the war. Used them to haul additional building material off the beach that Parks dropped off to build a comfortable and by the second day very popular loo.
I only took a few photo's on my phone which I'll post shortly. Others took video. Hope they post some. |

Its a A2 model with the electric start, Alternator and the spotlight added. It has 4 wheel steering and I did not do the work to it. I have not driven it much as I have to do some engine repairs hopefully this winter so I can take it to events next year.
