It seems to me the Bren Sling was longer than the normal web sling.

Anyone know the two lengths if that was the case. Peter S |

Enfield sling is around 48 and a bren sling is around 56 inches. All are give or take and inch.

This is a 40" long WW2 sling with steel end so not a Bren Sling.

BUT...It has two different style Bren clips on the ends and has a CF tag on it describing it as a Sling, Bren, 303MG. Cat Sec IC/AA Cat No. 5663. I'll keep the sling and sell the hooks. By the way a large steel box went your end of the Universe today. Many duplicate parts. Peter S |

Ooops, my mistake, the rifle sling is 46 and the Bren 58. But earlier the Bren sling was simply a rifle sling with the two hooks (pre 1944 was a rifle sling 46" long, with the one or two hooks as applicable).

Perhaps your 40" sling is for the 2" mortar. I am not sure the overall lentgh of them, but they were shorter, although obsolete early in 1942, replaced by the rifle length Bren sling. Last edited by rob love; 20-07-12 at 14:58. |
