Default Bbbrrrr..

Hi Guys

Tony. I have to confess, the drive down without side curtais was bl**dy cold but I had a good jacket, Beanie and scarf and the thermos was welcome when I arrived.

Richard. The Austin Champ is a credit to the owner and he has it decked out with all the radio gear in the back as well.

Cheers

Tony

Tony,
Have only done one run in a Jeep with all the side curtains and doors. Found it just as cold, terrible visibility as everthing inside was totally fogged up. The solution we found is a half door as it stops the wind whistling in the side and freezing your knee solid. I have seen this style doors in some in service photos, so it even satisfys those Oh so picky jeep perfectionists. Some are just a canvas flap with press studs, others are a very basic frame out of a bit of inch by 1/8 flat covered in canvas, hung off a simple pin hinge below the windscreen and a hook to hold it in to the body at the back of the doorway. The latter can be fitted without any modification to the bodywork.
If you are ever fortunate to have a ride in the Champ, you will notice that the straight sided body provides better wind protection for the lower body.
Don't think of it as bloody freezing, think of it as bracing.......
Stay warm.
Rich.
