| Half Track Treads & Bogies

Guys, I'm Richard from the Carrier and CMP forums. Yesterday, I was chasing down some CMP truck parts and I came across these treads and bogie/running gear in the bush. Some of the treads are have rubber pads and some are steel. Running gear is painted and looks to be in good condition, covered with years of leaves. Rumour has it that they are from an International half track. I am going back to the property on Wednesday. All remaining scrap on the property is going to the scrap yard next week. Does anyone in the armour forum recognize what these are? Should I pick them up while I'm there? Let me know, I would hate to see something go to the scrap yard if someone out there needs them. Thanks, Richard

The first picture definitely looks like half-track tracks, 3 of them. As for the second picture that is not a half-track track, nor does the frame look anything like the parts from a half-track. The 3rd picture I'd have to say the same as the second. None of those parts looks to be from a half-track. Once dug out maybe more will tell us better Richard I will send you measurements and actual pictures of track and sprockets etc to you directly Andy

So Richard, that must mean they are rare! Go and save them! Even if no one needs them now, when they are gone someone will! Cheers,

Guys, Thanks for the information. They will be excavated tonight and I'll have them back at my shop Thursday afternoon. Will post pictures when the dirt is off of them. Cheers!

| Innes Cunningham Gun Tractor

Sure looks like those tracks come off an Innes Cunningham tractor like the one Phil Gravelle from Scotland ,Ont. sent to the War Museum in Ottawa.

Guys, Here are some photos from last night's retrieval. The bogie assembly weighs a ton, probably a ton and 1/2! Good news is that who ever dumped it in the bush, greased it first. Everything turns freely and doesn't look to be out of alignment or bent.

| Innes Cunningham Track/bogie specifications

Guys, Here are some close ups of the track and bogie. Is this good enough to confirm that it is an Innes Cunningham? I'll power wash then oil spray the tracks and put them into storage. Same for the bogies, I'll put a grease gun to the nipples and put it also into storage. I do not have any plans for the tracks and bogies. I would like to sell them and put the proceeds towards restoring the Wire 5 and the Dumper. Send me a PM if anyone is interested. Regards, Richard

| Oil spray.. Quote:
Rich..Nice find but DO NOT OIL SPRAY the rubber tracks..oil will disintegrate the rubber...If you have already done it ,re pressure the rubber tracks clean..Keeping them in a dry storage area is the best thing to do..

Alex, Good call. I was driving to work this morning and I thought the same thing. My dad is always telling me that you can only use hydraulic oil with rubber. I will just power wash them, air dry and then dry store. Regards, Richard
