This clearing sale is some 20km from my place.

I checked out the collection a few years ago. There is NOTHING TO SEE and NOTHING OF VALUE, so the best bet would be to STAY HOME AND SAVE YOUR FUEL. Yes, Yes, I know there appears to be some treasures, but they are.... umm... CARDBOARD CUTOUTS, and, umm... blitz facsimiles that are really... umm... BEDFORDS! Yeah, that's right, Bedfords! You know the model... The ones that LOOK like a CMP but are realy very ordinary Isuzu Bedfords and early... ummm... Daewoos...! Me, being the top bloke that I am, will force myself to go, and I promise to report back on how CRAPPY the collection is and how attending the sale would have been a WASTE OF YOUR TIME... You can either thank me now, or thank me later. H

Yes, the ones that sound like blitzes are probably just rusty civvy "ACCO blitzes".

Take my advice, let Howard be the MLU representative and reporter. He's being environmentally friendly saving you lot all that fuel. ![]() I'm not even going, even though it's close to Temora! So we're all looking forward to your detailed report, Howard.

I didnt notice that sale either.... gee now that Ive seen it, I suppose I'd better get along to it.

From memory it is a bitch of place to get to. Most of you would be likely to get horribly lost or bugger your vehicle from the dreadful roads. Even worse you could suffer some unfortunate fate at the hands of a Marrar local....

You all know it will be a "MLU" reunion there. So you better divvy it all up now before the bitching starts after the auction. That little semi looks cool and NO! I won't be there but I'd have that in a flash ![]() Colin. |

			But seriously, folks...

I really, really, really, really, want to put dibs on the F15A. You should have seen it when I last saw it, about 5 or 6 years ago. It looks like the shed wall has fallen down since then exposing the truck to the northern sun & weather. It is amazing how much it has deteriorated. So, who is coming? I would love to share a beer with fellow MLU'ers. Cheers H

			Just an observation.

The F15A is listed as a 1945 truck. But doesn't the picture of the interior show a earlier, say 1942/43 dash?

			41 ford in the photo's above $600

41 Ragtop made $3200. Same guy that bought the '38 on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. F30A $1700 F15A $2900 Pretty good jailbar was the bargain.... $800 Chevy with Fire tank $2,100 Hmmm cost of getting a start in a restoration is definitely only going one way

As predicted the sale was massive, with big money being forked out for stuff that scrapies would have gotten for nothing just a couple of years ago.

No I did not get the F15A, but I introduced myself to the winning bidder, and he is a nice guy who lives within an hour our so from here. He told me that buying the truck was "day one in the realisation of a boyhood dream", which made me feel a bit happier about seeing it go... He has my email address, I have encouraged him to join up here on MLU, and look forward to following his restoration journey. The little C15A and C60L semi have gone to a local collector who specialises in what I call "liquid restorations". He is a nice bloke too who along with his son have a collection of about 15 CMP's. Again, within an hour from here too! I'm glad Tony has reported on the prices as I was to busy socialising to hear most of it. In fact there was one lot I missed because I was talking, not 10 yards from where the lot was knocked down... ![]() H

This vehicle is a F60S. Tony Wheeler sent me these pictures.

![]() Under the bonnet: ![]() And the data plate: ![]() Note the date stamped in very small numbers lower right. Mike Cecil may be able to confirm it, but I believe we only imported F60S chassis. The data plates on the ambulances are stamped F60S, even though they have 16" wheels.
