Thanks for the input guys. There appears to be lettering stamped in red on the top but dont Know if enough would be left to make anything out of it. The black does appear to have been there quite awhile so might be "original". Cheers Brian

Hi Brian..That is the smart thing to do..and don't forget that what ever is on that box is GERMAN so may not be recognized unless you speak and are familiar with the German military markings..
I would try to get some one from the War museum to take a boo at it..
Try to arrange a meeting with one of their experts and make a trip of it..

There are a bunch of us around Ottawa that are always available for a meet and greet at Gracies bar and grill with friends that drop into the Ottawa area.
