Default Funeral Vehicle Ferret

One Ferret at the LdSH(RC) was modified with a trailer hitch to pull a funeral gun (a 25 pdr with a cut down gunshield and a rack for the coffin). I have no idea if it was used for its intended purpose prior to becoming a monument, but it sat in Martin Park in Calgary for 20-odd years before we resurrected it. The Regiments last running Centurion was placed in the park with a Ferret on either side. All three are now running as part of the Strathcona Historical Vehicle Troop. The first Ferret and Centurion were re-commissioned in 1994/5 and the other Ferret around 1999.

We used the Ferret once for a funeral of a Strathcona officer in 1995 or 1996 in Calgary. I think the 25 pdr funeral gun was a 1 bde asset. It replaced Jack Guthrie's FAT (now at the CWM) because it ran like a POS.

I have heard tell of such an arrangement of the Ferret towing the gun with a casket on top before, as yet no one has posted pictures of that.

I cant wait until I figure out the CFR of c/s 31 and get some in service pictures of it.
