Mike, this plate carries the original makers logo and the serial number of the unit.
In the case of my M38A1CDN3 it follows:

JEEP
Serial 7105014
Number 1000071
JEEP CORPORATION
TOLEDO, OHIO

I am very interested in the address for that place in the UK. Please post the address when you find it.

On theM38A1CDN2 it should say, if I'm correct, Kaiser Jeep of Canada, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. This is the one that I am looking for, to replace the heavily sandblasted one on on my CDN2. The only thing that is barely readable is my serial# 7105 96879.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply, or say that you were wrong in any way. My fingers were typing faster than my mind was going. I was just trying to explain what should be on my cdn2 plate, which got sandblasted off it sometime in its past history. no insult was meant... sorry
