Your friendly so-called expert says:
Z 5250268 to 5252267 to early contract S.3054 'Truck 15-cwt. 4 x 2 Water', i.e. Bedford, Model MW [?]. The contract was placed in 1940 I believe. How's that! David Owen Hayward |

Thats just what I needed.the number comes from a 200 gallon water bowser which I have bought for my Dodge D-15.I know it's not exactly the right one but it will do for now.the tank has all it's original paintwork including the unit markings but as it's not home yet I havn't had a good look at them.

You fellas have been watch too many re-runs of Z CARS on TV .
The cops were running around in Ford Zodiacs and Zephyrs as I recall , watching it in the 1960's . The cars had a peculiar bell like clanging sound , like a alarm going off . Mike |

They used Ford Zephyr Mark 11 and Mark 111 cars, painted YELLOW not White because Yellow looked more 'white' than White! They also had electric bells on the front bumper.
