The answer is to put an old fashioned globe in the circuit (hide it up under the dash). If you use a double contact stop/tail globe you only need one. Just solder (or use an old original tail light socket with wires) one filament in to each of the left and right flasher circuits. Of course you can use a separate single globe for each circuit.
You can also put a small resistor in series with the circuit

Or buy a flasher can marked LED use only

Hi Guys

Thanks for getting back to me, some interesting advice and I will surely check it out. The Flasher cannister I have is for LED. I guess it will be a case of trial and error. Hopefully it will all work out as I need it to be working so I can take it to the government garage for their OK so I can get the Jeep registered.
