Default Bracket Identification

Hi Manfred,
I had asked this question awhile back and the MLU forum members identified it as a sun visor bracket.I have never found one on a CMP here in Canada and so far no other members here in Canada say they have found one either. They seem to be used in Australia as the members there have remains of them on their CMP's.I have brought up the thread again for you to view the answers I received and see the pictures for yourself.Look at "Ford CMP bracket identification".Good luck with the restoration.Any pictures yet?
Off topic here but my Grandmother came from Vienna,Austria and immigrated here to Canada in 1912 to meet up with her parents that came the year earlier to settle the land they had in the Province of Saskatchewan and started farming,Met my grandfather, married in 1919 and started a farm of their own,had 9 children including my dad and so here I am!Hope to visit Austria one day and maybe do some family research.
Regards,Derk.

Interestingly, I was discussing this bracket a few days ago with a fellow Dutch CMP collector as my F15A has one, too. It was demobbed in the UK shortly after WW2. Originally painted Light Stone, so probably intended for hotter climates where sun visors were a useful option?

Default Truck information

Hi Keith,
You have me wondering what year my truck was produced now that you point out so many items leading to an earlier production truck. You are right about the windshield possibly being changed as they are sure to break while in service and are so easy to slide out and slide a new one in from a parts truck so the date on the glass isn't very reliable and with the original data plates gone is next to impossible to find a true date of manufacture for my CMP other than what you have noticed about the truck's early parts to give it a rough date of manufacture.I do not know CMP's that well to know the different parts used during Ford's time periods of assembly. Thanks for the information as I have a blank set of 3 data plates for my truck I got off of Alan Growse and I have to make sure I have all of the proper information before I start to stamp it on the blank plates. So your knowledge of the parts lead you to believe it is a 1942 production CMP or is there something I should be looking at to give me a definite time line of manufacture.I couldn't find a tag on the radiator with a date on it so that is the only other part I can think of that would be dated.
I started stripping the truck down this spring and managed to take it completely apart so I could have the frame sanedblasted and start to reassemble it and then I went to the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's annual convention in Topeka,Kansas this year with Rob Love and went crazy buying parts for my 1943 Ford GPW jeep and wound up being sidetracked from the CMP to the jeep so it sits in the yard in a pile of parts until I reassemble the jeep.I hope to have the frame of the CMP sandblasted next summer so I can start putting the truck back together.I have almost all the pieces for a complete restoration except the hand crank guide on the bumper,a left gas tank and brackets,a horn button, side curtain bag, large shifter knob and a small blackout socket.
Thanks for your help and please let me know if you have any other information that will help me identify the date of manufacture of my CMP.
Regards,Derk.

Default Other things

One of the other things with a date is missing. The spring on the rear where the pintle is mounted has a year stamped on it.
The only other thing will be the engine/chassis number which is usually stamped on top of the chassis rail just behind the splash guard on the righthand side, but I assume you've already had a look for that.

Hi Derk!
1) Some of the parts I’m missing for my F15A are the plates on the driver´s door (publication plate, vehicle code plate and chassis record plate). They are stamped with special tool in aluminium.

Do you have a posibility to replicate the plates?
2) There are plates on engine cover as well. In my truck they arn’t in aluminium, there are decals. Do you know anyone who makes the decals new?

3) I saw about 10 CMP-trucks in Austria, all of them had the plate for the sunvisor, but I havn’t seen one with them attached. None of my manuals shows a picture of them.

Best regards
Manfred

Default CMP number

Keith,
I was going to search for the number on the frame when it was sandblasted but will have a quick look to see if it's visible. Will the chassis serial number date the truck as to when it was built?

Manfred,
I have seen the 3 data plates for the CMP's that are blank and you can stamp in your trucks serial numbers and vehicle codes. They were advertised in the FOR SALE section,Keith,I believe, also may be able to help you out with them.I have not yet seen the shift plate decals reproduced and for sale yet but I am sure somebody has them.Put an ad in the for sale and wanted section for the decals and maybe somebody's reproduced them for their truck already.Mine is a metal plate riveted to the dog house.I have looked in the Canadian CMP manual and did not find any description or diagram of the sun visor which has me wondering why they put it there in the first place as they were built here in Canada and yet were not fitted with visors or list them in the parts manual.
Regards,Derk.
