The C46 Commando was a much bigger airplane, and could carry a bigger load.
The C47 unlike the DC3 had a large double door and a jeep and trailer could be carried. The C46 was not used by the RAAF but really came into its own when used on the Hump. Regards Col

This might be a little off topic, however it does involve a C-47 and parachting. These guys in Oklahoma run a school using the C-47, a few people I know have jumped with them, you do the 5 standard jumps just like WWII and you earn your wings when complete.
