The original carb for a GPW/MB was the Carter 539S made in St Luis. Still available here in UK as new or rebuilt.
The Hotchkis is a post war French made Jeep after they took over the tooling and licence to copy the war time Willys and Ford Jeeps. I think that triangle affair that fits at the carb flange is simply to aid the mixing of the fuel air intake. Ron |

That carby is a Solex PBI ..used on various European cars ( and Hotchkiss Jeep ) and a variant of it was used on series 1 Land Rovers and Standard Vanguard etc. Those carbies are currently made in India for the US market where many Jeep owners replace the Carter with a Solex PBI.. MIKE
