Sorry to hear that.
Join the club, I lost the end of my middle finger a year ago, whilst working on an armoured relic of WW2. Nail was lost but has now grown back as good as ever, bit of a lack of feeling on the end though. odd thing was, I never felt a thing until the surgeon stitched it up
