Default C8A s/n 3844515289 1943

Hello Morty,

Just to bring this to your attention, in this thread I have merged others to collect data on the C8A you now own in one place.

It has a list of known MACH-ZL2 serial numbers, these were all delivered under contract CDLV 2611, Oddly enough, yours was delivered under contract LV 1679. If yours is indeed (one of) the prototype(s), it may be an explanation that they pulled a regular HUP off the line for conversion.

After the conversion was approved, Chevrolet may have been given an separate contract for the MACH-ZL2. This is all conjecture and would need to be confirmed (or invalidated) by further research.

HTH,
Hanno

Thank you, Hanno!

Here are the oldest photos I have of the HUM. These were taken before the first restoration by Roy Wellburn in Williams Lake, BC.

I got the scan of the photo from the back from Colin Stevens, while the other photo came with the truck.

Here are some photos that were taken while the truck was in Williams Lake.

Here are photos of the truck in March 2019

Hello Marty,

Thanks for sharing those pictures of your truck's early days. Hopefully others who know this C8A will help in piecing together it's history.

And finally a photo of the data plates on the back.

Here some clear photos with the numbers clearly visible.

The Chrysler plate is interesting. It suggests that there were quite a few ZL-1 variants built.

Default RDW inspection

The HUM passed the RDW inspection this morning!

Now we need to wait for the registration certificate to arrive to order the license plates.
The HUM should be able to get on the road in a week or two, finally!

And yes, it now has this very nice stamped chassis number...
