Default Bc f.a.t.

I have asked this question before with no responses. My 44 CGT had these on both sides,I remade them but haven't installed them as yet because I don't know what they are for?

POW cans?

They fit 3-2 gallon POW cans, but the middle one can fall away as it has no holder. So I don' think that was it, plus the FAT already has 2- 3 can POW holders under the rear back body.

303 Ammunition?

Possible but would ammunition be kept in the cab? Safety concerns?
If not, than why did they carry 25 pounder shells in the same area in the rear body? With 6 enfields stored it could be a possibility. I bought one style and have it sitting in that spot.

Need an old arty guy that still remembers what it was used for! I have asked several, no ideas.

Or?

A portable step to get in? Even for a 6 footer like me its a quite a step up to get in. They sit fairly high.

I found a "walk around" pictures of a quite luxurious CGT.

The .303 ammo box seems to fit a little bit better to the brackets than the P60 (I have allready bought 3 of them. Hope they fit to the doors above the rear wheels )

Default Ammunition Box

The H51 Wooden Insert boxes were not manufactured until 1945, so be cautious of 'walk around' photographs showing lots of luxurious stuff attached to a restored vehicle.

It's certainly not a 'factory' installation but here's a WW2 photo with something similar. The cap badge is neither signals or artillery. Armoured Corps?
