Would anyone be able to tell me which Canadians (either Army or Air Force) were in Sutton, Surrey, England in 1942/43 please? If not, could someone tell me where I can go to find this information? Many thanks.

			Hi Mary:

I know the first Canadian Brigade was stationed around the Sutton area. I myself was stationed in Kingswood, billeted in what was then the new post exchange across from the golf course. I do not know if it still there or not. I and members of my regiment used to go into Sutton quite often. On one occasion some of us visited a small pub called the Cock, which was then the territory of the Hastings and Prince Edwards Regiment where quite q physical battle ensued. I am sure that you will receive many replys from other members of the first Canadian Brigade. |

Thank you for replying Norm. I live not too far from Kingswood so will try to find out if the post exchange is still there. Not just at the moment though as I have a bad back which is preventing me from doing much!

There is still a pub called the Cock in Sutton which is probably the one you went to.Do you remember a building in Sutton itself where Canadians apparently reported before being assigned their units? If so, do you remember where it was? Regards, Mary |
